Someday, I Will...

Someday, I will follow my dream of hiking the entire Pacific Crest Trail, from Mexico to Canada. It has been my dream since I was a teenager, backpacking around the Sierra Nevada's with my family. It is a dream that is top on my life's to-do list. It is a dream that will have to wait a few years, because a 5 month backpacking trip is not in the cards right now. Here in the flat midwest, I only get my fix of the mountains, every few years. And these are short trips with my kids. The trips fill me up with the smell of the pine trees and the openness of the Alpine meadows. But, I am only full for a short while and then the adventurer in my yearns for more: more hiking with all my belongings on my back, more dirt on my feet and the sharp refreshing tingling of cooling my feet in a mountain steam, more wilderness, more solitude. I have all the books, the trail guides and the internet links. But, I have yet to convince the Mr. that he is coming with me. I wouldn't want too much solitude. He thinks I am crazy, and maybe I am. But, it is the call of the wild and the adventure of the unknown that keeps this dream on my list of things that I will do, someday.

This post was an assignment from Shawn at Letters to my Daughters to complete this prompt: Someday, I will...

It is so nice in life to take time to be where we are not ruled by the clock and can just exist. I think that your hike sounds like a fabulous way to do that. Good luck!
